Seeking Volunteers for "Keeping It Real" Program at Cornerstone Christian School
Cornerstone Christian freshman will get a perspective of what it cost to live in the adult world when the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce brings its ShelbyOne Initiative program "Keeping it Real" to the school on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
First the students learn the difference between gross and net income and the importance of budgeting.Then the students visit 12 stations with their income worksheets to pay bills that corresponded with expenses. Volunteers are needed for the second part only -- Thursday, September 26.
The program is sponsored by Thompson Tractor with co-sponsors America's First Federal Credit Union, The UPS Store Caldwell Mill Road and AT&T. Pari Barzegari, Manager of Community and Career Decelopment, is seeking volunteers from 1:30PM-3:00PM on Thursday, September 26. Volunteers will manage a station (Ex: housing, groceries, clothing, insurance, education, child care, etc.) to assist 9th grade students as they "pay bills" and make "life choices" based on a random-assigned life scenario.
