About Us

Our Alabaster flagship store serves nearly 1,000 customers each day with our team of more than 100 employees. America's Thrift Stores is a Christian retail company dedicated to financially supporting Christian-based family focused ministries. We take donations of gently used clothing and other items, sell them to shoppers and other thrift customers in our stores and then distribute a significant portion of our profits to support seven different ministry partners. Founded in 1984 by Buford Salmon, America’s Thrift Stores is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. We operate 18 stores in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana and have over 1,000 employees. Our goal over the next 10 years is to distribute more than $100 million to our partner ministries through a growing donation network of 2,300+ locations and in-home pick up service.
